Overview of role:

Gaeltec Utilities are seeking a full time Accounts Payable within our Finance Department to manage the accounts payable function at our Head Office located in Kilkenny.

You will be a key member of the team where you will be responsible for supplier contacts and payments, monitoring of bank accounts, management of supplier/subcontractor accounts, along with assisting with the cash flow and planning tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process payments to suppliers as per agreed terms to maintain continuous service;
  • Negotiate and prioritising payments and credit terms;
  • Point of contact for suppliers;
  • Maintain supplier accounts and ensure payments are entered in a timely manner;
  • Monitor bank accounts on a daily basis;
  • Reconciling the bank accounts;
  • Allocate customer receipts;
  • Assist in cash flow and planning;
  • Prepare weekly Customers, Suppliers and Subcontractors Aging reports;
  • Petty cash and expenses process;
  • Prepare and lodge monthly RCT and VAT returns;
  • Notify Revenue of subcontractor PO’s and payments;
  • Undertake other tasks where required, when colleagues are absent;
  • Other ad hoc tasks that may arise in the Finance Department when required.

Essential Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Finance & Accounting or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in an Accounts Payable role.
  • Excellent system skills (MS Office – Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with an accounting system (Coins, Sage or similar).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
