Linesman LE-1 & LE-2

Location: Ayrshire / South Caledonia.

Main Purpose of Job:

The primary role of a Lineman is to install, maintain and repair high-powered electrical lines and systems. A Lineman works on distribution lines that originate from a power plant and extend to individual buildings or homes.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

  • To promote, develop and maintain a positive Companywide health, safety and environmental culture.
  • Working as a Linesman on the OHL Electricity you will be responsible for day-to-day operational outputs.
  • Reporting directly to your chargehand, you must be goal orientated, a team player and determined to succeed in all aspects of the OHL work.
  • Take responsibility for daily work tasks, as instructed by your chargehand or by your Supervisor.
  • Take part in team briefs and tool box talks.
  • Adhere to the safety rules as set out by the Company and its Client.
  • Have an ongoing determination to complete the work on time and to the specified requirements.
  • You will be competent in the completing your dally tasks. paperwork required, (Permits) to control the network that you and all team members will be working on, at any given time.
  • Read switching instructions and diagrams to allow you to isolate and earth the LV OHL Network.

Experience:

  • Proven track record of working on OHL works.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Linesman.
  • Knowledge of OHL build and an in depth understanding of the Permit to work procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Current DNO authorisation for LV switching (WPD SPEN Preferred) Must be computer literate (Essential)
  • CSCS or equivalent (Desirable)

Machine Operator (Poling)

Location: Kilkenny

Contract: 1-year fixed term with review  

 Overview of role:  

Gaeltec Utilities are seeking a Machine Operator within the Overheads Lines Department. With experience of construction and all relevant CSCS qualifications are essential. We are looking for an individual who is willing to travel to multiple locations, company transportation provided from base location (Kilkenny).

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support Crew/Team leader by having a pro-active attitude towards all tasks and follow their instructions;
  • Ensure that all documentation related to the machine is always present, site and up to date;
  • Completion of daily/weekly documentation;
  • Perform all works according with Company and Client Health and Safety rules, MESC’s, codes of practice, method statements and HSA regulations;
  • Be an active part on performing the pre-work Safety Risk Assessment and Job Site Safety Plan;
  • Ensure Good Catches and Near Misses are reported promptly;
  • You will be responsible to take proper care of all tools/equipment/PPE and vehicles supplied to you by the company and report any defects found;
  • Ensure to be always presentable as part of the company’s image, have a likable attitude towards your colleagues, customer representatives and members of the public;
  • Ensure site work space is in line with good housekeeping conditions;
  • Ensure all works are performed within Company and Client quality, procedures, and technical requirements;
  • Report challenges, safety issues to the PICW/ Supervisor;
  • Support all teams on site in helping to solve complex works;
  • Take part in training, team briefings and toolbox talks.

To be considered for the Machine Operator position you will Ideally have the following: 

  • Full Driving Licence and willingness to travel and work at various customer sites.
  • Excellent communication and time skills.
  • Must understand and speak English language.
  • Reliable and flexible with the ability to use own initiative.
  • Available to work shifts, evenings, weekends and on short notice.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the task at hand.
  • Commitment to health and safety.
  • Experience of construction essential.
  • Relevant CSCS qualifications essential.

Lineworker OHL

Location: Ireland

Contract: 1 Year, with review to permanent

Overview of role:

Gaeltec Utilities are seeking a number of Line workers on the overhead distribution and transmission department.  The primary role of a Line worker is to install, maintain and repair high-powered electrical lines and systems. A Line worker works on both transmission and distribution lines that originate from a power plant and extend to individual buildings or homes. To ensure that the Company takes all reasonable measures to provide a safe working environment for its employees, the general public, contractors and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working as a Line worker on the OHL Electricity you will be responsible for day-to-day operational outputs.
  • Drive utility vehicles to work sites.
  • Climb poles to service power lines.
  • Service transmission and distribution lines from power plants to buildings.
  • Install electrical equipment for power systems.
  • Repair aboveground and below-ground power lines.
  • Maintain power lines through regular inspections.
  • Reporting directly to your PICW, you must be goal orientated, a team player and determined to succeed in all aspects of the OHL work.
  • Take responsibility for daily work tasks, as instructed by your PICW.
  • Take part in team briefs and tool box talks.
  • Adhere to the safety rules as set out by the Company and its Client.
  • Have an ongoing determination to complete the work on time and to the specified requirements.
  • You will be competent in the completing your dally tasks.
  • You will take proper care of all tools/equipment/PPE and vehicles supplied to you by the company and report any defects found.
  • You will always deal with the public in a courteous manner and keep the company’s integrity in good stead.
  • Ensure job site follows government and company safety rules.

To be considered for a Line worker role, you will Ideally have the following:

  • 2+ years’ work experience as line worker or proven track record of working on OHL works preferred.
  • Full Driving Licence and willingness to travel and work away at customer sites
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (walking and standing for long periods)
  • Available to work shifts, evenings, weekends and on short notice.
  • Physically strong, agile and dexterous.
  • Undeterred by heights and adverse climatic conditions.
  • Must have an understanding of the English language.
  • Reliable and flexible with the ability to use own initiative.
  • Commitment to Health and Safety.
  • Optional knowledge of electricity consumption and power engineering

Person in Charge of Poling (PICP)

Location: Kilkenny

Contract: 1-year fixed term with review  

 Overview of role:  

Gaeltec Utilities are seeking a Person in Charge of Poling (PICP) within the Overheads Lines Department. With experience of construction and all relevant qualifications are essential. We are looking for an individual who is willing to travel to multiple locations, company transportation provided from base location.

Responsible for undertaking pole installation and replacement in conjunction with the lines crews. Work as a team member and taking responsibility for health, safety and daily welfare.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support Crew by having a pro-active attitude towards all tasks and be able to give clear instructions;
  • Overall supervision of the installation and removal of poles, including dressing new poles;
  • Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with Health & Safety;
  • Complete daily Risk Assessment;
  • Record all plant and equipment checks;
  • Work with Lines Crew to ensure a safe working site;
  • Ensure works are always carried out in an efficient and diligent manner;
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures;
  • Report all incidents near miss/good catch in line with the company reporting procedures;
  • Ensure that all relevant site documentation is completed and communicated to all persons on site for the task at hand on a daily basis;
  • Perform all works according with Company and Client Health and Safety rules, MESC’s, codes of practice, method statements and HSA regulations;

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The role will require you to travel to sites across Ireland with occasional overnight stays, as and when required.

Due to the nature of our works, there may be a requirement for to cover out of hours works i.e., weekends and on some occasion’s nights. Within reason, you must be willing to cover out of hours works, where necessary.
