Machine Operator – Dublin

Location: Dublin

Contract: 1 year with review  

Overview of role:  

Gaeltec Utilities are seeking a number of Machine Operators within the Telecoms Team to work throughout Ireland. With experience of construction essential and CSCS 360 ticket essential. We are looking for an number of individuals who are willing to travel to multiple locations, company transportation provided from base location.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support Crew/Team leader by having a pro-active attitude towards all tasks and follow their instructions;
  • Assure that all documentation related to the machine is always present on site and up to date and done daily/weekly;
  • Perform all works according with Health and Safety rules, MESC’s, code of practice, method statements and HSA regulations;
  • Be active part on performing the pre-work Safety Risk Assessment and Job Site Safety Plan;
  • Assure that have proper PPE, certified and in good conditions to perform all tasks;
  • Assure to be always presentable as part of the company’s image, have a likable attitude towards the colleagues, customer representatives and members of the public;
  • Assure that all tools and equipment’s are in good shape and working correctly;
  • Assure site work space is with housekeeping in perfect conditions;
  • Assure all works are performed within customer quality, procedures, and technical requirements;
  • Escalate problems, challenges, safety issues to the Crew /Team Leader;
  • Support all Team on site in helping to solve complex works;

To be considered for the Machine Operator position you will Ideally have the following: 

  • Full Driving Licence and willingness to travel and work away at customer sites.
  • Excellent communication and time skills.
  • Must understand and speak English language.
  • Reliable and flexible with the ability to use own initiative.

Line Worker – Fibre Installer

Location: Dublin

Contract: 1 year with a review

Overview of role:

Gaeltec Utilities are seeking a Line worker – Fibre Installer within the Telecom department. The primary role of a Line worker is to install Fibre and all the furniture involved on ESB OH Lines LV and MV on the Telecoms Department For Fibre Deployment Client.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To promote, develop and maintain a positive Companywide health, safety and environmental culture.
  • Stop and report any situation that you deem to be a danger to yourself or others. Report immediately any hazardous conditions to those responsible and keep records of all such inspections and hazards.
  • Working as a Linesman on the OHL Electricity you will be responsible for day-to-day operational outputs.
  • Reporting directly to your PICW, you must be goal orientated, a team player and determined to succeed in all aspects of the OHL work.
  • Take responsibility for daily work tasks, as instructed by your chargehand or by your Supervisor.
  • Take part in team briefs and tool box talks.
  • Adhere to the safety rules as set out by the Company and its Client.
  • Have an ongoing determination to complete the work on time and to the specified requirements.
  • You will be competent in the completing your dally tasks.  paperwork required, (Permits) to control the network that you and all team members will be working on, at any given time.
  • You will take proper care of all tools/equipment/PPE and vehicles supplied to you by the company and report any defects found.
  • You will deal with the public in a courteous manner at all times and keep the company’s integrity in good stead.

To be considered for the Line worker or accredited Overhead Level 1 Siro position you will Ideally have the following:

  • At least 2 years experience as a Linesman working on ESB Lines
  • Full Driving Licence and willingness to travel and work away at customer sites
  • Proven track record of working on OHL works
  • Knowledge of ESB OHL build and an in depth understanding of the Permit to work procedures
  • All the Trainings for a Linesman as example:
  • Mewp Ticket
  • Scan Trepo Pole
  • Pole Check
  • Pole Top Rescue

General Operative (Civil Works) – South East

Location: Arklow/South East Area

Contract: 1 year with a review

Overview of role:

Gaeltec Utilities are seeking a General Operative within the Telecoms Team to work throughout Ireland with the first phase 1 being within the South East area. We are looking for an individual who is willing to travel to multiple locations, company transportation provided from base location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • A General Operative is responsible for ensuring that production is carried out efficiently in adherence to quality standards.
  • Meet defined production targets.
  • Follow instruction from the Crew Leader/Team Leader.
  • To ensure the safety of yourself, the workforce, public and any other person affected by your duties and responsibilities.
  • To follow task briefings and appropriate safe systems of work and ensure that Company policies and procedures are always adhered to.
  • Complete all training as identified by the company.
  • Ad hoc duties that may arise.

To be considered for the General Operative position you will Ideally have the following:

  • Experience of construction mandatory.
  • CSCS 360 preferred.
  • Manual Handling and Safe Pass qualifications.
  • Must have an understanding of the English language.
  • Reliable and flexible with the ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, etc).
  • Commitment to health and safety.
  • Full Driving Licence, HGV driver License will be considered as a plus, willingness to travel and work away at customer sites.

ArcGIS Specialist

Location: Kilkenny

Contract: 1 year with review

Overview of role:

Gaeltec Utilities are seeking ARCGIS Specialist within the Telecom department. We are working as a joint venture on the roll-out of the next phase of its fibre broadband network across Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create maps and records using ArcGIS software and data collection equipment
  • Assemble Information georeferenced collected by the construction teams on the ground
  • Construction, editing and maintenance of databases
  • Design/creation of Geodatabase files and Build Maps on ArcGIS
  • FTTX Design on ArcGIS online/ArcGIS Pro/QGIS
  • Develop Dashboards to allow the construction stage control/production
  • Developing Tools on platforms such as 123 Survey on ARCGIS, Field Maps
  • Supply information upon construction finalized to Design Department to perform the Handovers, including info for Intergraph, Eligibility, As-Builts
  • Establish and maintain a good relationship with the Client and attend Design Meetings
  • Establish and maintain a good relationship with all team members of the Project within the company and create a good comradeship
  • Establish and maintain a good relationship with the Managers

To be considered for the ARCGIS Specialist  position you will Ideally have the following:

  • Degree in Geographic Information Systems or similar
  • Consolidated experience in the installation, configuration and maintenance of geographic information systems software – QGIS; ArcGIS
  • Excellent knowledge of georeferencing and coordinate systems
  • Knowledge and experience of Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, PostGIS programming
  • Knowledge and experience in QGIS, ARCGIS Online and ARCGIS Pro
  • Autonomy and responsibility in the development of work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent level of English (oral and written)
  • Willing to work in an organization with a multicultural environment
